Dr. Garrett Starr
Lead Pastor/Elder
Dr. Garrett Starr and his wife, Risa, have been married for thirty-three years and they have three children: Seth, Kelsey, and Hannah. After coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ while in college, Garrett taught English Literature and Biology in high school for eight years. He then followed the calling of the Lord and entered pastoral ministry in 2001.
Dr. Starr has served as a pastor in Texas and comes to Faith Baptist Church with a passion for prayer, for preaching and teaching the Word of God, for godliness and integrity in leadership, for equipping the saints for the work of the ministry, for sharing the Gospel, for intentional disciple-making, and for challenging and equipping men to be the spiritual leaders of their homes.
Dr. Starr earned a Bachelor of Science from McMurry University, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry in apologetics with an emphasis on hermeneutic methodology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies/Apologetics from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dr. Starr serves on the Men’s Ministry Team of the International Baptist Convention and is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society.
