Pastor James (Jim) L. Goforth, Jr.

Pastor Goforth was born December 23rd 1964 in New Orleans Louisiana, to Pastor James and Virginia Goforth in New Orleans.  He gave his heart to Christ on a Saturday night in August of 1969.  Pastor was called to preach in December 1975.  He began revival ministry as a preacher and musician in 1981.  He was licensed to the Gospel Ministry, November 7, 1982 and has served church staffs since 1983.  

Jim Goforth graduated from The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas in 1987 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music and Minor in Religion.  Pastor Jim was Ordained to the Gospel Ministry in January 1991 by the Woodforest Baptist Church in Houston Texas.  He was also awarded a Bachelor of Biblical Studies in December 2003 and a Master of Biblical Studies in March of 2005 from the United Theological Seminary, St. Louis Extension.  Pastor Goforth has also received extensive training in Leadership and Vision Development through a 2 Year Program (1997/1998) "Leader's Edge", operated by The Union Baptist Association in Houston Texas.  Because of his Preaching Ministry and Reconciliation Efforts locally, regionally and nationally, Pastor Goforth was recognized with an Honorary Doctorate of Biblical Studies by the St. Louis Extension of the United Theological Seminary in March of 2008.

Pastor Goforth spent 8 years in full-time evangelistic ministry traveling, preaching, singing, and teaching in schools, churches, camps, and revivals from 1988-1996.  Pastor Jim served as a church planting Pastor in the Houston suburb of Pearland Texas and served 5 other churches in varying capacities in Texas and Missouri.  Most recently, Pastor Jim served as Senior Pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Florissant, (North St. Louis County) Missouri, March 2003-January 2012.

In January of 2012 Jim Goforth accepted the call as Senior Pastor here at Faith Baptist Church, beginning in the pulpit in March 2012.  

Outside of the pulpit, Pastor Jim loves most every kind of sport.  He is especially devoted to golf, having served 2 years as a Teaching Professional.  He has coached 25+ little league soccer and baseball teams, worked with High School Golf and Baseball teams and directed junior golf programs.  He is also a fly fisherman and enjoys tying his own flies.   

Jim Goforth is an accomplished musician and songwriter and has recorded 3 custom albums.  He also enjoys writing devotional materials, reading both fiction and non-fiction and is a student of history.

Pastor Jim loves The Steelers, The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Houston Rockets.

Getting old sometimes slows down his pursuits of his favorite foods, but he loves a big medium-rare steak, good tex mex, and fine seafood.  He looks forward to tasting the tastes of Europe.

The most important thing for Pastor Goforth is being “Superman” to Lisa since marrying in 1985 and “Dad” to AJ (1988) and Bryan (1992).
