Jan (“yawn”) Horak is a German who has lived with Americans since he was a toddler! Though born in Germany, he spent an ideal childhood growing up in Asheville, NC. His family moved back to Germany and settled in the KMC, and he has lived here (and attended Faith Baptist Church) since 1987. After graduating from a local gymnasium, Jan studied theology at the University of Heidelberg. He accepted a call to be the youth pastor at Faith in 1998, so he has already seen eleven years worth of graduating seniors leave the nest.
Over the years, Jan has lead and participated in mission trips to Bulgaria, Romania, Amsterdam and Northern Germany. He has also been a youth camp speaker in Italy, Norway and the U.S. The last few years he has also been the International Baptist Conventions Youth Ministry team leader and has been the camp director of the European wide Summer Camps “Euroventure” and the Fall retreats “Impact”. Jan married his high school sweetheart (and favorite KAHS alumnus) Ginger in 2000 and they have four children – Nehemiah, Naomi, Gideon and Ezra.
